Diversity and Inclusion Budget and Funding Information
Annual Institutional Allocation - Line Items (“1”)
Information about line item allocations is provided on area statements. Anticipated expenditures and necessary transfers are noted in each area’s allocation document. Savings from line item allocations (FWS hires, lower costs) are retained by each area and can be repurposed at your discretion, but College/Divisional allocations do not carry over to the next fiscal year. Plan and monitor your spending. Overspending will result in increased budget oversight in the future and can negatively impact the performance of your job duties. Overspending also generates work for others. In cases where additional funding is needed, contact the Division office about the possibility of a funds transfer or an approved budget overage.

Endowments, Scholarships, Funds (“2”) - Annual Payout / Active Solicitation
Endowments provide an annual payout. Unspent endowment funds carry over from year-to-year, but excessive accumulation raises flags about an account’s usefulness. Be sure to distinguish the current fund total from the typical annual payout as you spend down. Track spending because overages in these accounts are not allowable. The DEI Fund is not endowed, but Advancement engages in active outreach to donors for resources to support DEI initiatives.
